Chandigarh records 40 cases of dengue over a two-month period.

With 40 cases reported in the last two months, dengue cases have already begun to appear in the city.

Director of Health Services at the University of Texas, Dr. Suman Singh, stated: "This year, instances have been recorded early due to timely monsoon. To prevent the vector-borne sickness from spreading further, we are taking all required safeguards. To cover all breeding sites, fogging and spraying operations are being conducted.

Dengue larvae have been found in refrigerator trays, pots, tyres, and other items, and city dwellers, public and commercial organisations are being criticised for not keeping their surroundings clean.

On individuals who disobey the rules, up to 7,638 notices and 97 show-cause notices have been delivered. 139 challans have also been issued to government organisations.

With 1,584 reported cases, compared to an annual average of 300 since 2018, last year saw the worst dengue outbreak in the preceding four years.

Three dengue-related fatalities have been reported in the city so far this year, but there haven't been any since 2015.

The region's delayed exit of the south-west monsoon was blamed for the outbreak last year. By the end of September, the monsoon usually ends. The day was moved up to October 25 last year.

Seven indicators of dengue fever

  • abdomen-related discomfort or pain.
  • recurring vomiting
  • clinical fluid buildup.
  • a bleeding mucosa
  • lassitude or agitation.

Dengue fever pattern

The typical biphasic or "saddleback" pattern of a fever involves a break followed by a return for one or two further days. As the fever subsides in some patients, the disease progresses to a critical stage. This phase, which normally lasts 1-2 days, is marked by extensive, diffuse plasma leakage.

Dengue prevention and cure

Wear long sleeves and long pants, use insect repellent, and keep mosquitoes at bay both inside and outside of your home. An estimated 400 million people worldwide contract the dengue virus every year from mosquito bites. About 100 million get sick.
